Why the ETH heatmap is not like BTC
Binance futures · ETHUSDT · FlowMap Chart
ETHUSDT and BTCUSDT share the same FlowMap layout. Heat, bubbles, COB, CVD. The picture is not the same size. Tick, typical print size, and how thick the book feels all change.
This note is why the ETH heatmap is not “BTC but smaller.” Same tools. Different scale.
Price step is not the same
BTCUSDT futures move in a small USD tick relative to the coin price. ETHUSDT uses its own step. One heat row on ETH is not “one BTC tick translated.” If you keep BTC habits, bands look too wide or too noisy.
On the chart, the bucket / tick setting has to match the contract. Reading ETH heat with a BTC mental grid misreads how much size sits in one cell.
Size that looks large is not the same
A “large” print on BTC is not the same contract size as a “large” print on ETH. Floors for Large marks and for absorption are set per symbol for that reason. What feels like a whale on ETH can be routine on BTC, and the other way around.
Bubbles scale with print size on that symbol. Compare ETH bubbles to other ETH minutes, not to a BTC session you watched yesterday.
The book feels different
Depth around the touch, how fast bands pull, and how far a market order walks all depend on that contract’s liquidity. ETH can look “emptier” or “choppier” next to BTC even when both feeds are healthy.
Binance is still one venue per chart — Binance is not the whole Bitcoin book applies to ETH the same way: this is ETHUSDT futures, not every ETH market.
What this picture is not
Not a claim that ETH is harder or easier to trade. Not a setup that ports 1:1 from BTC. Not advice to copy BTC levels onto ETH.
Same academy ideas — heat, tape, CVD, absorption — with ETH’s tick and size. For learning only — not financial advice.
